How'd That Happen?

We had to be at Red Rocks before 9:00 am to get a good seat for my daughter Emily's graduation. It was VERY hot and we all sat in the direct sun (no hats, no sun screen, no shade, no common sense). Thankfully, my husband had the forethought to bring a cooler with ice and bottled water in it in the car. However, he had to go back to the car to get the water. This was really sad because it was about a mile to the car and it was a ridiculous trek. It's a steep uphill climb on the way to the stadium.

I felt really bad for forgetting the sunscreen and I mean that literally. I have fair skin and reddish hair. The sun and I have a love hate relationship. It had to be worse for the poor graduates who had on the dark green robes and caps.

Red Rocks Amphitheater was very hot, but it is a really beautiful place where some great concerts are held.

One down......Four to go. Now it's on to BYU for Emily.

We celebrated by going out to her favorite place "Cheesecake Factory" and then came home for cake and a graduation gift.
I know it's not a car, but it will help you a lot more when you away at college.

How did that happen? In the words of Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof, " I don't remember getting older, when did she?"

Use It Up, Wear It Out

One of my favorite quotes says:
"Use it up, wear it out, make do, do without"

My children have to wear uniforms to school and while babygirl was getting ready for school this morning she said, "I sure wish I had a pair of shorts to wear", so I went through the donation bucket in my closet and pulled out a pair of pants that I had recently bought for her, but wouldn't allow her to wear anymore because there was a hole in the left knee. I cut them off (on the longer side) and turned them into navy blue bermudas for her.
I was thrilled with the end result, with the fact that I saved the pants and money and that she will have a pair of shorts to wear now. Do your kiddos wear down the knees on their pants? Consider making shorts out of them if they are still in good condition. It only took me 30 minutes to do this.

Cowgirl Up

Baby girl and I playing around at Murdochs.

My husband and I went to see Trace Adkins last night and it was amazing. He definitely has some moves that guy.

Couple of Two or Three Things

I received a wonderful birthday treat in the mail from my dear friend Paige and her darling daughter Lil' Bit aka Miss Caroline.
I've been wanting to read "The Notebook " too.
I quickly put my library pockets in my new books.
I love to share books with friends, but I forget who I lend them out to, so I always put library pockets in my books.
I won tickets to see Trace Adkins at the Paramount next Wednesday on our local radio station KYGO.
This is shaping up to be a great weekend.

It's My Car And I'll Cry If I Want To

No, I don't own a very expensive car and it doesn't have a lot of super extras, but I like my car and look what I did to it.
I'll tell you what. It was actually the rabbit hole opening garage door that did it. I swear to you that the thing actually started to shrink up as I was puling into the garage. Deadgummit! I can't even blame it on some other driver so that their insurance has to pay to repai it. : ( : ( : (
There goes my new Luchesse cowboy boots.

Ten Second Cinnamon Buns

What do you get when you add this
and this?
In minutes you get this.
And a total of this, minus the one (okay three) that I just ate in minutes too.

Ingredients:
2 cans of Pillsbury Grands Refrigerated Biscuits
1 tub Land o' Lakes Cinnamon Butter Spread
1 Cup powdered sugar
3-4 TBSP. milk
1/2 TSP vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Unroll the biscuits and roll them out (individually) using a rollig pin.
2. Spread an even ammount of the cinnamon sugar spread on the biscuit.
3. Roll up the biscuit and cut it into three pieces.
4. Put all three pieces, swirl side, or cut side up, into a muffin tin that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
6. While the buns cool slightly, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Drizzle over the warm buns.
Okay, okay so it technically took more than 10 seconds to make and bake these, but it only took 10 seconds to eat them. Honestly, it took me 30 minutes from beginning to end to make those. I'm going to be using this recipe for ages.
PS: I'm sure you can make your own cinnamon sugar butter. I made a big batch up because I decided it would be more cost effective and probably contains less preservatives than the premade stuff.

The Civil War and New Glasses

I spent a portion of the morning out at Chatfield Reservoir with my son's fifth grade class as well as 4 other classes that combined to reenact the Battle of Shiloh/Civil War. It is an amazing production. A company comes in a makes a huge production out of it with filming, directing, props, costumes, etc...It is a very long process. However, my little man is not a fan of long processes, nor is he a fan of loud noises, nor is he a fan of yelling directors, not a fan of standing in the sun and not a fan of chaotic events, not a fan of getting dirty, not a fan of large crowds....need I say more?

This was one of only four photos I took.

Those guns they hold shoot flour and make a pop noise.
Little man was a confederate soldier.
A lot of time was spent standing around waiting for instructions by the director. He lasted about an hour and a half before he siad he was done and wanted to go home. Good thing the reservoir is only 20 minutes from our house.
Baby girl got her first pair of glasses today.
She looks fabulous.
